15th Main Crew (HM-15)

The crew of the mission Soyuz TM-18 (15th Main Crew) was comprised of the team commander (KO), cosmonaut Viktor Mikhailovich Afanasiyev, the onboard engineer (BI), cosmonaut Yuri Vladimirovich Usachev, and the scientist cosmonaut Dr. Valeri Vladimirovich Poljakov.

16th Main Crew (HM-16)

The crew of the mission Soyuz TM-19 (16th Main Crew) was made up of the team commander (KO) Yuri Ivanovich Malenchenko and the onboard engineer (BI) Talgat Amangeldyevich Musabayev. The scientist cosmonaut (WK), Valeri Vladimirovich Poljakov, who previously worked for 6 months on the space station as a member of HM-15, continued his job also as a member of HM-16.

17th Main Crew (HM-17)

The crew of the mission TM-20 (17th Main Crew) consisted of the commander Aleksandr Stepanovich Viktorenko, the onboard engineer Yelena Vladimirovna Kondakova and Ulf Dietrich Merbold, who was part of the EUROMIR-94 mission. The scientist cosmonaut (WK), Valeri Vladimirovich Poljakov, who previously worked for 270 days on the space station as a member of HM-15 and HM-16, continued his job also as a member of HM-17.
